Important Mask Update from Superintendent Rearick – 11/4/2021

Dear Families,

Since the start of the COVID-19 outbreaks, I have been closely monitoring the available data points related to the transmission of COVID-19 in Hooksett. The three data points include the Anti-Gen/PCR 7-Day positivity rate, the number of active cases, and the number of positive cases over a 14-day period. This data can be found on the DHHS COVID-19 Dashboard. In addition, I also monitor the number of active cases in each of our three schools. Since the start of the school year there have 41 positive cases reported in our three schools, of which 21 have been reported since October 25, 2021. Of those 21, 11 were positive cases at the Memorial School.

As a result, in accordance with Hooksett 2021-22 Reopening Plan (https://hooksett.sau15.net/wpcontent/uploads/sites/3/2021/09/Hooksett-Reopening-Plan-2021-2022-92221.pdf), Memorial School will be implementing a mask requirement for all students and staff. This means students and staff will be required to wear masks when indoors other than when eating. Students will be provided mask breaks throughout the day. Masks will not be required when students are outside at recess. This mask requirement will become effective tomorrow November 5, 2021 and will be in effect through November 12, 2021. I will reassess the situation at that time to determine whether or not the mask requirement is still needed.

The safety of our children and staff is my top priority. Thank you for your patience during this very difficult time.

Sincerely,

William J. Rearick
Superintendent
