February 2 Incident

Good afternoon.

This is Steve Harrises, the principal at Hooksett Memorial School. The purpose of this message is to let you know of an incident that occurred today near the school during dismissal time. During this time, buses were en route to pick up Underhill students. Hooksett Memorial students on one of the buses reported seeing three individuals making inappropriate gestures at them. The students also reported to their bus driver that they saw one of the individuals waving a weapon at them. The bus driver immediately called the school to alert them of the individuals and the report. We called the Hooksett Police Department and initiated a lockdown at Underhill. The Hooksett Police Department responded to the situation and we were instructed to lift the lockdown and resume our normal operations. This caused a significant delay in some of the bus dismissals. I want to assure you that the students are safe and we will continue to work with the Hooksett Police Department in regard to this incident and to maintain safety for our students. We do not have additional details about the investigation at this time.

I appreciate your patience with this matter.

Thank you.

Steve Harrises, Principal
Hooksett Memorial School
