2017 Scripps National Spelling Bee

Our school conducted the annual Bee during the first few weeks of January, with class competitions and a whole school competition for grades 4 and 5. Congratulations to our school champion, Alex Dresser, a fourth grader in Mrs. Champagne’s class. River Saxon, in Mrs. Curran’s fifth grade class, was our runner-up and will be the alternate to the state bee. The 2017 New Hampshire State Spelling Bee will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 1:00 PM, at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord. The student to emerge as the top speller will represent the Granite State at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. in May. Good luck to Alex! The HMS Fifth Classroom Representatives were Adelle Paiton, Mia Dudley, Camden Marasco, Samiska Gurung, Sarah Maddox, River Saxson, Demetrius Kafkoulas, and Alec Stylianos . The Fourth Classroom Representatives were Alex Dresser, Jake Soucy, Carson Walls, Emily Black, Zachary McCassey, Marissa Verney, and Thomas Montminy.
